🚡MTB heaven since 20 years ago -> Asahan , Gunung Ledang (Mt Ophir).

Photo courtesy of Dirk Limann, year 2002.

Background;
1.) 6Dec2020 , My team and Alias Yunos had an exhilarating MTB ride in Asahan with several great climbs and downhill and finally ending at the mini waterfall for pool dipping  .   Captain Alias demonstrated his leadership by guiding us into the first peak and subsequently another 3 peaks . He mentioned to me several times about my German buddy Dirk Limann 's old trail .
Below are the recent ride photos.
2.) 31Aug2012,  Ben , myself and team went to Asahan but unfortunately, Ben had a fall , suffered a major cut which ended up 3 stitches at his arm.  Nevertheless, we enjoyed the lung busting climb to the peak , 350m altitude heights, with 360 degree panoramic view.

Asahan - MTB heaven since 20 years ago
=================================
Dirk Limann was kind enough to share with me his recce ride effort twenty years ago with a few familiar guys like ahKeong ( SBH bike shop owner ) , Loi ( TRS bike shop Chief ) and ah Chai ( Eco bike shop owner ) and of course not forgetting the best bike tour guide in Malacca , Alias Yunos.  Following are some of the old day photos contributed by Dirk Limann.
from left , Loi , Dirk Limann.
Loi has been a very supportive guy in doing recce , throwing shredded papers for route marking.
Loi was very handsome, loads of hair , twenty years ago lah πŸ˜‚
above is ahKeong and Dirk, doing recce task for path finding.
after a successful day , always enjoyed with a pool dipping and cleaning.
Trails can be very muddy during raining season.  See below photos ;
but ahChai ( above) is so skilful always.
Nice hair style by the way 😁 .
Can you spot Alias Yunos (above) ? That marine army hat always 🀣.

No wonder the river is always brownish in colour LOL.
AhYang JYTay  was also there , always with smiling face.
at the peak of Mt Ophir, those Angmo with Dirk Limann , long hair guy πŸ˜€.
Loi has never stop helping riders whenever bicycle problem occurred.  He is always the backup bike engineer during off road riding.
Above was the village kampong  route from Melaka town to Asahan hill.   No Garmin, it's all base on trial and error and paper map. Dirk Limann had to do it alone many a time, as the leader in hash.  Amazing guts he possessed.

Thanks so much to Dirk Limann for his great contribution in hash mountain biking since twenty years ago.   His very first old mtb bike is still around, well kept , and I hope he can pass to me one fine day  for museum purposes  ,😜.
Looking solid and well taken care. Nice old vintage full suspension bike.

We will return to Asahan mtb trail again but definitely with more climbs , more peak !  Be fit and get ready to join us.
