Method: Biological Age Test Through Telomere Length Measurement
Telomeres are protective caps at the ends of chromosomes, where all the DNA is stored. God is truly great—He created approximately 24,500 genes, all safeguarded within DNA. Among them, sirtuins 1 to 7 are important healing genes, for example. For more information, you may refer to the book Lifespan by Dr. David Sinclair, a renowned professor at Harvard University.
Telomeres shorten as we age, and the process accelerates due to harmful habits such as heavy smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, prolonged sun exposure, low VO₂max, obesity, and a sedentary lifestyle. Damaged telomeres indicate compromised DNA, which disrupts the function of healing genes. This leads to the formation of senescent cells, increasing the risk of tumor development, cancer metastasis, and other diseases such as heart conditions and diabetes.
I had been searching for a clinic that could facilitate a telomere test for several years. In 2023, Dr. Lai JunMin from Stellar Clinic assisted me in sending my blood sample overseas for testing.
The result was somewhat disappointing—my biological age was only one year younger than my chronological age (58 vs. 59). However, this outcome served as a reset for my mindset. It motivated me to become more disciplined and serious about following the BMWi health KPI guidelines I designed five years ago. For example:
i. Ensure my sleep quality score exceeds 65 on at least 255 days per year.
ii. Complete 18-hour intermittent fasting on at least 115 days per year.
iii. Follow the “2 pegs only” alcohol rule, stop drinking by 8:30 PM, and limit consumption to once per week.
iv. Improve my VO₂max from 43 ml/kg/min through consistent cycling discipline.
v. Maintain a protein intake of about 30 grams per meal, using the 80:20 diet approach, where 70–80% of the meal is fiber.
vi. Increase muscle mass and reduce body fat.
Today, I received the latest result, and it was truly enlightening. My biological age remains at 58, while my chronological age is now 61. Muscle mass increased by 1 kg, body fat decreased by 1 kg, and visceral fat remained at 7. The BMWi tracking report has been very helpful.
My alcohol consumption has decreased by at least 90%.
My sleep quality score has improved significantly over the years.
My IF18 (intermittent fasting) has been practiced on over 100 days.
My VO₂max has improved to 47 ml/kg/min.
My muscle mass ratio has reached nearly 75%.
Conclusion & Comments:
a) High discipline in adhering to the BMWi guidelines is the key enabler to sustaining a younger biological age.
b) Aging deceleration is possible if one remains committed to the BMWi approach. Living to 100 is achievable.
c) PinPinKorori, as the famous Japanese phrase goes—live healthily for as long as possible and pass quickly when the time comes. Avoid becoming bedridden.
d) Continue fostering strong social connections, as they are the cornerstone of longevity.
Some photos, evidence, are as follows ;
"U din age" as commented by Dr Lai Jun Min. The biological age has remained at 58 yr old while I am 61 yr old now.
Muscle mass up by 1kg while body fat down by 1kg.
Good anaerobic level.
Cycling with strong social connection.
VO2max of 47ml /kg /min.
